This week’s quote is by Dale Carnegie.
“Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.”
Sometimes I need a reminder to take action.
I can spend weeks thinking about doing something, procrastinating, coming up with excuses, or waiting for circumstances to be perfect.
I know by experience that there is no such thing as a perfect moment. It is up to me to begin. However, I used to think that people would wait until they knew precisely what they were doing to act, but that is not the case. People often learn along the way, or by making mistakes.
Taking a leap of faith can be hard, but it can also be very rewarding. When I moved to Canada I did not have everything figured out. I had to trust that I would have enough money from a scholarship, that I would get a good place to live, that I would be able to adjust to the new culture and the harsh winters, that if I needed help I would get it.
Guess what, I have gotten all that. It has already been four and a half years, and things have been fine. This is not to say that it has not been hard, because it has been quite challenging, but I have had help when I have needed it. I have found nice places to live, met wonderful people, learned a lot, and spent time in a great city.
If I had let fear of the unknown prevent me from taking action, I might have not left my country in the first place. Now, I cannot imagine my life any other way.
This blog is another example. I did some research before I started, but there are a lot of things I still do not know. I am learning as I go, and sometimes I make mistakes, but I am not letting it stop me.
Is there something you would like to do but keep procrastinating? Are you afraid of failing? What is the worse that could happen if you just took a step in the right direction today?
Whatever it is, I hope you make the decision of starting today. Chances are you won’t regret it. I wish you the best.
Keep going, my friends.
